TRANSFER, TRAINING, RONALDO, MAGUIRE AND POGBA IS JUST A ICEBERG TRUTH TO ERIK TEN HAG IN MANCHESTER UNITED
Written by ZAIN Ul ABDIN
Reports suggest that Erik ten Hag could be confirmed as a replacement for Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United in the next few days, but despite the splendor and prestige of the Premier League club, he faces an almost impenetrable list of tasks he should attack and address if possible. he wants to keep his job, and make a living success at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag will be appointed as the new manager of Manchester United according to a series of reports, but he has a lot of work to do.
When Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down, David Moyes was appointed and while many questioned his ability to match his previous successes, few believed that a decline in team performance would be too difficult.
Perhaps even more unexpected was that each time the current catastrophe was replaced by the next catastrophe, there were reasons for optimism. Under Louis van Gaal was the dance of Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao and others. Jose Mourinho was with Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also had Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho and Harry Maguire. At all times, disappointment and failure followed.
Apparently that gave Ten Hag the confidence to seek more control, which included a final word about money transfers when working with team managers, and a willingness to restructure the team to include younger players. Here are his priorities for next season.
HARRY MAGUIRE AND ALL OTHER TESTS:
There seems to be no obvious reason for Harry Maguire to fail at Manchester United, but there is almost no other way to explain it at the moment. The £ 80 million defender - an England overseas player, at least - is probably a major backline weakness that has already collapsed without him.
Raphael Varane has done well in an acceptable way, and maybe next season his assurance will be able to lead the line rather than be pulled by it. On the right, Aaron Wan-Bissaka backed away and weakened his best qualities rather than improving his weaknesses. Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles are reserves, and Luke Shaw seems to be struggling with the tactics. Mourinho may have been as cruel as he was but he was not at fault. Others like Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly did not include themselves at Old Trafford, but proved to be inadequate.
PAUL POGBA AND THE MIDDLE:
Pogba would be foolish to stay at United. Ten Hag needs a miracle, and one quick one, to keep his job for more than a few years and once again pose a major graduation challenge. This summer you will probably jump on a boat to Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain and enjoy the quality around him at first, and the easy life at the end.
But problems within the stadium are not limited to Pogba. Scott McTominay and Fred are likely to stay, but they would not be joining any of United's world-renowned clubs. Ten Hag needs at least one, and maybe three new players in the stomach just to get the team to the required level in the middle of the pitch.
CRISTIANO RONALDO AND THE FRONT LINE:
The 37-year-old Portuguese striker hit a high note this weekend, the 30th since he turned 30. He is United's top scorer and if he could stay at the club next season he would probably be the same then. However it makes sense to ask whether his salary could support the reorganization of a team that works better for the team, in all his scoring goals.
Given his age and diminishing strengths, he does not fit the needs of the hard-working front line, as he logically focuses his efforts on each of the highest awards - scoring goals. Most of the time that makes sense to the team, but Ten Hag seems determined to pave the way for the team. Negotiating the exit of the Portuguese in an expensive and timely manner, while losing the example he set in the training area, is a long question.
Aside from the apparent return of Mason Greenwood, as well as the problems of Marcus Rashford, this is another area where strengthening and training are needed.
EXCELLENCE EXCHANGE:
Both training and transfer are made more difficult with a large number of changes both needed and will be implemented this summer. Anthony Martial wants to leave, but many will be on the way. Of the unnamed players, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Dean Henderson, Lee Grant, Edinson Cavani and perhaps many more could leave the club. In excess, 10 players may be required, while working on a budget and against the inefficiencies of the United transfer market. That alone is a huge obstacle, but Ten Hag has to remove that while adjusting the team's strategic approach.
